Effective Yet Best Alcohol for Extraction - Ethyl Alcohol Grades &Purity for Purposes

What is ethyl alcohol? What is the purpose of using it?

It’s a multifaceted solvent that mixes without any separation in the water and other organic solvents like benzene, chloroform, toluene, glycerol, and ethylene alcohol.

It meets the criteria for category 2 flammable liquid because it gets ignited at room temperature and has a boiling point of 175 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s used as a flammable liquid in many of the vehicles and automobile industries.

Some other uses of alcohol are cannabis extraction from the dried cannabis plant. For cannabis extraction, Best Alcohol for Extraction is recommended to have an effective extraction of cannabis.

Solubility of Ethanol

It’s the most commonly used solvent that closely reproduces the chemical ratios used during the extraction process. Using ethyl alcohol, oil-soluble as well as water-soluble components can be extracted. For commercial purposes, supercritical carbon dioxide extraction is used. In these rotary evaporators, tools are used for the raw cannabis extract.

Concentration of Ethanol

To have the pure final products use the highest purity solvents, which removes the complications? Avoid using low-quality solvents as it has only a few controls for the contaminants. Make sure you understand the nomenclature of different grades of ethyl alcohol instead of the reduced Ethanol to avoid the regulatory restrictions, taxes, and hazardous shipping fees.

Methanol is highly toxic that can cause fatal or serious damage when ingested by animals or humans.

100% absolute Ethanol (200 Proof Ethyl Alcohol)

In this absolute Ethanol, there is 99% ethanol, which is achieved by using advanced processing techniques. For producing anhydrous Ethanol (Ethanol without water or little water), molecular sieves are used by the manufacturers.

95% Ethanol (190 Proof Ethyl Alcohol)

It’s the highest proof of alcohol obtained through the distillation method only without any extraordinary techniques.

Types of Ethanol Grades

Three grades of Ethanol are available in the market: FCC grade, HPLC grade, USP grade. FCC grade ethanol is a consumable and food-ready product generally referred to as safe. USP grade ethanol is used for commercial purposes in pharmaceutical, industrial, fragrance purposes. HPLC grade ethanol ensures no ions in the buffer interfere with the HPLC detectors.
